Alex

So landed in a blizzard in Denver and then drove up to Boulder. A lovely small town, home to the Fearless Cottage and the new home of the poster boy of ads – Alex B.

He fascinated us because he did what Howard was always trying to do – he got out of ads…

For everything you might think about a chap who marketed burgers and then wrote a book on obesity I liked Alex for his honesty. He was young and thrived on what comes with success – the money, the first class flights and the showering of accolades. But as he’s been on his journey he has realised that that his beliefs as human being increasingly made hi position in advertising untenable.

He told one particular story near the end of his time at Crispin, Porter – about how he had become increasingly opinionated about advertising to kids. He spoke out and was promptly told by his bosses from feedback from clients that he needed to be silenced… It was very soon after that he set up the Fearless Cottage – a place that allowed him the space to create his own Firehouse – a place where inspiring people can come together and take their own small steps to change the world.
